Service Description
Latin is one of the most useful subjects for students to learn to improve their performance in school, from reading to English to science and more. Neuroscience shows that learning Latin (especially early on in life) helps students in their school performance and test scores later on, even on the SAT and ACT. One of the most highly effective programs for learning Latin is Memoria Press' Latin curriculum, designed for students aged 5-18. Lee Dwyer has over 10 years of Latin study under his belt. He has gone through the entire Memoria Press Latin program, from Prima Latina to the final Henle Latin and Cicero translation books. He has also taught kids from kindergarten to high school levels in math and physics, and is getting his master's in journalism at Boston University in Massachusetts. In this virtual Zoom class, Lee will walk through lessons 21-25 of Prima Latina with students, teaching them vocabulary, grammar, sentence translation skills, and the techniques of learning a second language. No prior experience is needed for this class, and it is written for a K-2nd grade level. We recommend at least 5-10 hours of outside study for this class per week, including homework and vocabulary practice. Class materials (including the workbook and teacher's manual for parents and educators) are linked below. If you are interested in the class but would like to inquire about waivers for materials or affordability overall, contact us and we will do our best to work with you. We believe education should be easy and accessible for all. All courses are taught by Lee Dwyer unless specified otherwise. For more information, contact us or visit our About Us page.
